How to Cultivate Resilience in Uncertain Times
Programs to support individuals and communities in building strong containers to address climate anxiety, deepen social justice work, and meet the interrelated social and economic disruptions happening now.
Do you or a loved one experience anxiety as extreme climate events accelerate around the world?
Are you looking for mental health or mindfulness and embodied resources to support you in understanding climate anxiety and cultivating the tools to care for yourself and others through these times?
Do you want to deepen your social justice work, become more aware of white privilege or embodied racial trauma and bias?
Do you want to find a way to create calm in your life, no matter what is happening in the world around you?
Embodied Resilience programs provide you with a format for discussion of these concerns as well as the tools and practices that support you in restoring your resilience and sense of connection to others while cultivating the skills to stay centered during times of turmoil.
Chances are, you have thoughts about: “The Great Turning” is happening now.
Joanna Macy describes the Great Turning as the essential adventure of our time: the shift from the Industrial Growth Society to a life-sustaining civilization. Drawing from eco-psychologist and Buddhist scholar Joanna Macy’s The Work That Re- Connects program, this interactive class provides a format for meeting “The Great Turning” or eco-social disruption which we are experiencing now. Julie will guide the group through practices to support us as we consider how we can “transform despair and overwhelm into inspired collaborative action”. ~J. Macy
Although climate anxiety is not officially recognized as a mental health disorder, the American Psychological Association (APA) defines climate anxiety as a “chronic fear of environmental doom”. Nearly half of young people ages 18-34, surveyed in 2020 by the APA, say they have felt stress over climate change in their daily lives.
How can we find the strength and clarity to go forward in these times of great challenge, disruption, and uncertainty? Join us for this part mindful yoga practice/ part guided reflection and group discussion class. Together, we will experience practices that support us in restoring our resilience and our sense of connection to others while we cultivate the skills to stay centered during times of turmoil.

What to expect from this webinar class experience?
We will gather virtually, in a small group circle of 5-10 people, via Zoom, with video cameras on—for the most part—during the sessions. Guided yoga and meditation practices are accessible to beginners. Group discussions take place in a structured format to foster mutual respect and feelings of comfort and safety in the group. Participants are invited, rather than required, to take turns sharing their experience, speaking from the heart and then listening without judgement or giving advice. Past participants report feeling a sense of warm connection to others in the group, even in the Zoom format of the class, as well as an easeful sense of enjoyment and relaxation in the groups.
